Community Iftar: Building Bridges Through Shared Experience

On 12th March 2025, SibiNet hosted a powerful and heartwarming Community Iftar at Redditch Masjid Noor, bringing together nearly 100 attendees from across the local community. Supported by Costain Group Plc, the event celebrated the spirit of Ramadan while fostering meaningful dialogue, cultural understanding, and authentic community engagement.

With guests ranging from local families and community leaders to students and young professionals, the evening created a rare and valuable space where the construction industry and the Muslim community could connect, not as organisations and individuals, but as people united by shared values.

Costain’s Involvement

Costain sponsored Iftar meals for 100 people and sent a delegation of senior leaders, including:

  • Craig Reade – Programme Director
  • James Cowley – Account Manager & Project Director
  • Andrew Walton – Agent

Their presence and contributions helped spark engaging discussions around careers in construction, social value, and the importance of inclusive industry practices. Costain’s support reflected a strong commitment to community-led engagement, not just in words, but in action.

“Privileged to be part of this community event. Delighted that we were able to share our Costain values, supporting the local communities we work in and helping people into our industry.”

— Craig Reade – Programme Director

“It was so wonderful to see non-Muslim friends feeding fasting people of our community… This shows the most important religion is the one of humanity, irrespective of colour or creed.”
— Mr. N. Zamir, Redditch Masjid Noor

By the Numbers

What’s Next?

Following the event, SibiNet and Costain are exploring a collaborative Career Guidance Programme designed to:

  • Inspire young people from the local Muslim community
  • Offer insights into careers within construction
  • Provide practical engagement opportunities through talks, workshops, and site visits

“This event exemplifies how social value can be dynamic, inclusive, and deeply impactful.”
— Muhammad Sibi, Director, SibiNet
